I want teach readers how to read a poem. they need to enjoy the poem besides understand it. Billy Collins

Hold the poem under The light .

“ Press an ear against its hive ” To listen carefully

“ I say drop a mouse into a poem and watch him probe his way out “

Look for meaning and a way to understand

Enjoy the poem ! “ I want them to waterski across the surface of a poem “ Enjoy the poem !

“ Waving at the author’s name on the shore “

Tell me the message of the poem !! “ But all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with a rope and torture a confession out of it “

“ They begin beating it with a hose to find out what it really means “ Readers looking for the message of poem.
