The Clara Abbott Foundation Overview

The Clara Abbott Foundation is a charitable organization that exists solely for Abbott employees. They provide need-based financial assistance, and university-level scholarships.

Financial Assistance Disaster assistance Personal financial hardship The Foundation provides: Emergency assistance for food, clothing and temporary shelter Assistance to help repair or replace essential items Personal financial hardship The Foundation provides help with basic needs: Housing costs such as mortgage, rent and utilities Medical expenses remaining after insurance coverage Funeral expenses Food and clothing

A Bridge to a Brighter Future An earthquake tore through Juan’s community putting his house at risk of collapse. The Foundation assisted with home repair costs to ensure Juan and his family had a safe living environment. After waiting for several months, Ann was scheduled to receive a liver transplant. To afford the procedure, she and her family sold assets and borrowed money, but were unable to come up with the full amount. The Foundation provided the additional dollars to cover the remaining cost of the procedure. After falling three stories, David learned he was paralyzed. Unable to care for himself, David needed to fly home to his family to begin treatment. The Foundation covered the costs of a special medical flight to bring David home, and provided funds for special-needs equipment. Collin was struggling to make his monthly financial obligations after his wife lost her job. The Foundation paid for several months of rent and utilities while Collin’s wife found new employment.

Scholarships The Foundation offers university-level scholarships to the dependent children of Abbott employees and retirees Grants are awarded to those most in need Awards are for first-time undergraduate degrees for children ages 17-24 Scholarships help pay for college-related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, supplies, transportation, and room & board Application availability and deadlines vary throughout the world.
