World War I WebQuest Maryann Harrington Grade 12 Literature

Introduction In order to appreciate All Quiet on the Western Front, we must meet the people, listen to their music, and understand the politics of the era. Adding to what you already know about World War I, you will build yet another link to the past. Were the soldiers on either side really so different? Are the issues that divided the world in 1914 still prevalent in today’s military hot spots? When the dust settled, who really won and what did they win? You decide. The Task Mission 1 Mission 2 Mission 3 Rubric Conclusion

The Task As a prequel to reading All Quiet on the Western Front, each group of four will research aspects of World War I and create a twenty-five slide Photo Story of pictures and songs representative of the times. In addition, each person in the group will complete and hand in The WebQuest Dossier, a collection of answers from your Internet probing. Finally, each group will write a letter to the local Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Council. The Intro Mission 1 Mission 2 Mission 3 Rubric Conclusion A Dirigible

As you begin to read Remarque’s, All Quiet On the Western Front, put faces on the characters, hear their songs, and participate in the heated discussions on the morality of war.
