MacOS X 10.7 Apple allows for bulk purchase (20+ copies) with PO and discount ($14.99, compared to $29.99) Departments are provided with download codes and a disk image of the media –Media is not limited by activation or other keys –Ideal distribution method: provide the disk image to customers, not the download codes. You should not pay tax on any Apple purchase

OCIO DLP RFP OCIO has been tasked with creating an RFP for Data Lost Prevention tools for the University –Example products: Identity Finder, Symantec DLP, etc. Technical team created, requirements in place –Headed by the OCIO Security Team RFP in final revisions –Headed by OCIO Site Licensing

Expanded SLSC Offerings Added several products: –SCCM Server 2007 SP2 –SCCM Server 2007 R3 Preparing additional products: –Lync –Lync Server –SCOM Server 2007 –SQL Enterprise Server –SQL Standard Server –Project 32/64-bit –Visio 32/64-bit Movement of Forefront Client (x86/64) to Fac/Staff download site (FEP to remain on SLSC side)

SAS Renewal SAS has offered new contract terms for Teaching and Research licenses –Unlimited installations –Unlimited student home use –Unlimited server use –Linux desktop option added –Small cost increase (approx. $4,000 this year) Cost of SAS will increase from $27 to $32-or-so in FY12 –New addendum to agreement SAS Admin use remains unchanged SAS 9.3 released last Monday

MATLAB Renewal MATLAB renewal is in Purchasing No term changes; cost increase over last year –Product remains free to end-users Projected renewal: before expiration!

CoreFTP Removal from OSU SLS today –CoreFTP does not support protocols for OSU Web Hosting Student websites, departmental websites, etc. –Replaced by FileZilla –Removal not due to licensing or security issues; it just doesn’t work on OSU Web Hosting.

Secunia/LANDesk Generally on hold due to Data Loss Prevention RFP –Secunia: Accounts are in testing; request for 50 additional accounts for roll-out to Security Liaisons –LANDesk: Contract is active and available; contact Gary McMasters or Pete Kelley at GovConnection; Documentation coming soon.
