Village Charter Academy Parent Meeting August 29, 2014

VCA Governance Structure Board of Directors Academic Excellence Sub- Committee Committee Make-up Director of Instruction Teachers Parents Fiscal Advisory Sub-Committee Committee Make-Up Director of Operations Office Manager Teacher Rep Community Partnership Sub- Committee Committee Make-Up Teachers Parents Parent Advisory Council Committee Make- Up Teachers Parents (At least %51 parents)

Community Partnership Committee Made up of parents and teachers act as a liaison between the school and the community facilitate parent training develop an annual and multi-year fundraising plans coordinate the fundraising efforts by senior staff, parents, and other volunteers implement the community outreach plan create specific measurable goals for the year report to the Board at regular meetings of the Board annually evaluate its work as a committee and the objectives it has committed itself to and report on same to the Board of Directors.

Academic Excellence Committee Made up of parents, teachers, and Director of Instruction define what is academic excellence for the school ensure that all Board members understand key charter promises work with school leadership to devise clear and consistent ways to measure progress towards stated goals work with the school leadership to set annual academic achievement goals share with the Board annual successes, barriers to reaching academic excellence and strategies to overcome these barriers facilitate Board training on issues related to academic oversight and evaluation of student achievement, as needed ;create specific measurable goals for the year annually evaluate its work as a committee and objectives it has committed itself to and report on the same to the Board.

Fiscal Advisory Sub- Committee Made up of office manager, teacher representative, and Director of Operations prepare an annual budget for the charter school to present to the Board develop and annually revise a five-year financial forecast and develop long-range financial plans based on the forecast facilitate an annual audit to be provided to the Board provide oversight of fiscal policies management of day-to-day fiscal affairs and school fundraising review monthly financial statements and variances from budget, and recommend action to the Board create specific measurable goals for the year develop and implement a board-level training program to ensure that all trustees can be effective stewards of the school’s financial resources

Parent Advisory Council Made up of teachers and at least 50% parents advises the Co-Directors and the Board on student and community issues in regards to meeting the goals and requirements of federal and state funded programs will serve as all councils mandated by district, state or federal law including ELAC and SEAC, and will follow all requirements of those councils.
