MOJN – June 2007 DM Presentation 2 Data Management

MOJN – June 2007 DM Presentation 3 Is to have a comprehensive automated information system that will integrate all data including geographic, tabular, text, and image data from a variety of sources to enable modeling of real and theoretical situations for management of all park resources. Data management and GIS are considered a resource for park management and will be available to all park divisions. Goal as a “Data Manager”

MOJN – June 2007 DM Presentation 8 The data mining team invests a large amount of time & effort into the population of the I&M applications and we’d like to see staff and cooperators continue to populate them, and reap the benefits. Ideally park staff would incorporate these tools (it’s servicewide) as they do PMIS, IDEAS, etc… Datasets and protocol development Data Mining Efforts

MOJN – June 2007 DM Presentation 15 IRMA Integration of Resource Management Applications NRPC will begin transition to service- oriented architecture (SOA), starting with NPSpecies, NatureBib, and the NPS Data Store. This is a process, not another application

MOJN – June 2007 DM Presentation 16 New Natural Resource Program Center IT Policy NRPC will: integrate all applications (starting with NatureBib, NPSpecies, and the NPS Data Store) eliminate redundant data storage streamline standard functions across applications…

MOJN – June 2007 DM Presentation 17 Natural Resource Program Center NRPC will create a central web portal, a single sign-on system, and a common user interface for all natural resource applications.
