Presentation transcript:

The photo of the artist (Nicki Minaj) is near the centre of the page to immediately draw the readers attention to it, this is so that fans of hers will see this when they are flicking through and will become more likely to purchase it because of her interview, she is also forward of writing, this gives her a 3D effect, again to make her stand out. She is looking directly into the camera with a quirky expression to draw attention, this also suits her reputation. She is wearing fairly extravagant jewellery and clothing again to suit her style and bring more attention to her, as this is the only picture. The fonts throughout the double page spread vary. Immediately the readers eyes are drawn to the bold pink text that outlines the artists name, this means it is easily seen by people who may be flicking through. Above that the writing in black, is swirly and feminine, this suits the style of the magazine because it is centred around pop, it also suits the artist as she is known for being quite girly, the rest of the font is fairly plain, but this makes it easy to read, therefore the reader wont have to spend unnecessary amounts of time trying to understand what is happening in the interview. The colour scheme is predominantly pink, this suits the genre of the magazine as pop is often deemed feminine, it also represents the artist who is known for her girly and feminine style. Whilst pink suggests it is for a girl and it connotes sweetness, the black shows that the artist and the magazine aren’t fully innocent and have a bit of mystery and darkness to them, this may be a reference to the artist songs which often have swearing in them, and it shows that it may not be suitable for young girls. The black also stands out vividly from the pink background and makes it easy to read. The layout is fairly simple, and ranges from left to right to mimic the natural way people read, this makes it easy to understand so the reader can enjoy the interview, rather that having to worry about where they are supposed to be looking. The interview moves around the photo so it isn’t obstructed and is easily visible.

There are only two pictures on this double page spread. The large one is so that the reader can easily identify who the interview is about, and when potential buyers are searching through quickly they can see the artist due to the largeness and boldness of the photo, and if they are a fan they are more likely to purchase it. The artist –Justin Bieber- is looking directly into the lens to invite the reader in and attract them to the magazine. His positioning and clothing as well as facial expression are very attractive to his female and some male fans as he is drawing them in and presenting himself in a way that is aesthetically pleasing. The small photo is an action shot to break up the text and show the reader parts of his everyday life so they feel like they are apart of it. The masthead is a quote from part of the interview, this will intrigue readers as what context it is in and what it is about, and they will therefore be more likely to read the full article to gain this knowledge. The font is in swirly writing suggesting it is more for females to read and attract, rather than boys, which suggests it is for a pop magazine, especially due to the fact the context isn’t just about music but his life as well. The colour scheme is red, white and black. Red shows that the context is something to love, as is the artist that it is about as well as standing out against the white background. The white shows that the context is innocent and suitable for younger people reading it, this is good because the artists fan base is mainly younger girls. The black shows that he may have an edge to him that is intriguing and draws people to him, as well as this the black stands out vividly from the white background and therefore makes it easier to read and understand. The layout is simple and goes down in columns like normal articles, this means it is easy to read and easy for the reader to understand. This is important because due to the artist’s fan base they may find it harder to read more complicated layouts and this could discourage them from buying it so they can know what it’s about.
