How have the advances for women during the First World War been interpreted? What is an historical interpretation? Before carrying out this task it is important that you understand what an historical interpretation is. Complete the tasks that follow to help improve your understanding.

Interpretations of history An interpretation task requires you to do the following: 1. identify the ways in which the past is represented and interpreted 2. distinguish between ‘fact’ and ‘opinion’, giving some evidence/knowledge-based reasons for this. Click to reveal
