RISK ASSESSMENT AND MONITORING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMICALS

Ms. Gina Teresa Herbozo Zurita

The fast economy development process as industrialization on the world has been highly promoted and a subsequent rapid economic growth has occurred together with increased pressure to the environment, including pollution and natural resources use, the severe environmental degradation confronting it, sustained and continuous efforts will be required to implement and fund its environmental policies. Capacity building in technical and operating levels is still an important gap that needs to be filled up in order to reach a better environmental control.

Purpose of attending this training course  Increasing the understanting of the analytical practices, techniques, methods of analysis and technoligies for monitoring pollution.  Acquire knowledge about equipments.  Evaluation data.

What I have learned  Lectures * Environmental Pollution  Observations  Practice * HORIBA Ltda. * HITACHI High Technologies Corp. * SHIMADZU Corp. * Hyogo Prefecture Technology Center for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (HPTCAFF).

OBSERVATIONS

PRACTICE

TRAINING SUBJECTS The lectures covered a wide range of subjects, from the principles of the environmental chemical, to their assessment and analysis by using the most advanced analytical equipment. A resume of the topics covered in this course is given as follows:

 The Basis of Risk Assessment and Monitoring of Environmental Chemicals  Environmental Law and Criteria in Japan  Chemistry of environmental Chemicals  Techniques for Analysis of Dioxins  Impact of Agricultural Chemicals and Fertilizer on the Environment  Distribution, Fate & Effects of Man-made Organics in the Aquatic Environment

 Ecological Risk Assessment of Environmental Contaminants  Soil Environment and Environmental Soil Contaminants  Risk Assessment of Pesticides and Other Chemicals for Human Health  Industrial Pollution and Japan  Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals  Toxicity and Carcinogenicity Testing for Prevention of Chemical Hazard by Pesticides  Analysis of Pesticide Residues and PVC Plasticizers in Food  Solid Waste Management Technology

REQUEST TO FULFILL MY PUPOSE OF ATTENDING THIS TRAINING COURSE In order to fulfill the purpose to attend this course, besides of the knowledge acquired until now, I need major emphasis in the GC-MS equipment handling, also it is necessary to intensify the evaluation of data analysis, so that at the end of the course we are enabled to make environmental evaluations.
