 Financial Position is solid  Equity position of $126,266 as at 31 July 2013  Board policy to hold reserves equivalent to annual income achieved  Board policy is also to have expenditure that works around a goal of self regulation  Major element of that is Industry Audit Assurance Programme

 NZFMA has worked to develop a set of minimum standards for salmonella testing  Based on industry survey and seen as appropriate cost effective for all industry operators  It is an important element in the concept of “Safe Feed means Safe Food”.

 NZFMA has worked collaboratively with MPI officials as they undertake their Feed Review  Visits to member company sites with very positve feedback  Individual company practices and equipment also a feature of visits by ED

 Self regulation is based on skilled, knowledgeable employees  A key element in that is a quality cost effective training programme  11 currently in training course  Request for enrolement for next year will be sent out before Christmas  Recognition of industry training up to 20% of budget is dedicated to this area

 External audit of manufacturing practices  NZFMA Board supports concept  Working with AsureQuality to develop – 30+ mill sites  NZFMA has, and will, fund development process  Companies to fund audit visit costs  Proactive approach applauded by MPI

 A review of course content undertaken to make as relevant as possible to NZ conditions  Discussions underway on improved online resources  NZFMA commitment shown by funding support  Trainee of the Year Award initiated

 Membership of International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF)  Highly respected and works closely with organisations such as Food and Agriculture (FAO), OIE (World Health Organisation for Animals) to ensure realistic regulation.  Arable Feed Industry Council (AFIC) ensures NZFMA input works with farmers, researchers and industry statistics.
