Presentation transcript:

2007 Redistricting Committee Early Childhood Center Feeder Pattern Appoquinimink School District

2 Schedule of Reports November 13: 1st Reading December 4: Town Meeting (6:30 p at Redding MS Auditorium) December 11: 2nd Reading

3 Goal Propose new feeder pattern: 1.Early Childhood Centers (2008)

4 Factors to Consider Balanced enrollment in grade-level schools, anticipating growth Equitable distribution of students based on ethnicity Equitable distribution of students based on “socio-economic” status (Free/Reduced Lunch) Students would remain with others from their community to attend the school nearest their community

5 Dangers To Avoid (if possible) Moving one border community back and forth between schools in successive redistricting plans. Students assigned to a school and would drive by a same grade-level school.

6 Services Utilized Technology Management and Design (DOE, Don Berry) University of Delaware (John Laznik) ArcGIS Software ESchool (DOE) Trapeze Redistricting Software (Tulowitzky)
