Podcast Planning

Keeping it Legal

Fact or Fiction? 1.Copyright violation is a crime. 2.If I find it on Google or YouTube, I can use it. 3.As an educator, I can use it under Fair Use. 4.If I don’t make money from it, it’s not a violation. 5.I can use things that are in the public domain. 6.I can use it as long as I give proper credit. 7.I am following the 10% rule, so it is okay to use.

What is Fair Use? A “fair use” is copying any protected material (texts, sounds, images, etc.) for a limited and “transformative” purpose, like criticizing, commenting, parodying, news reporting, teaching the copyrighted work.
