Heredity By: Carmella Bratcher

 Content Area: Science  Grade Level: 1st  Summary: Characteristics are passed on from one generation to the next.  Learning Objective: Given the definition of heredity students will be able to identify genetic transmission of characteristics with 90% accuracy.  Content Standard: GLE Describe ways in which animals closely resemble their parents.  Accomplishment: Students are introduced to the principles of heredity by learning the roles of genetics and traits that can be inherited.

Review  Heredity : is the passing of traits to offspring from its parents.  Genes: Determine how offspring's look.  Traits : Features that make an offspring unique.

Review to continue  Traits that are passed from one offspring to the next are:  Hair color  Eye color  Fur color

What trait was passed to the kittens?  Fur color Fur color  Ears Ears  Nose Nose  Eye Color Eye Color

Correct!  You are awesome!!

What trait was passed in this family?  Skin color Skin color  Eye color Eye color  Hair color Hair color  Smiles Smiles
