35 79.904 Br Bromine

Bromine Bromine is a liquid. Which means it has no definite shape and has a definite volume unlike a gas.

Metal,Non-Metal,or Metalloid Bromine is non-metal. It is unusual for a non-metal to be heavy, but bromine is.

Family Name Bromine’s family name is called Halogen. It is in Period 4 and down to group 17. Some of the others in its family are Chlorine used in pools. Iodine used in dyes, and another called fluorine.

Who discovered Bromine Antoine Balard and Carl Jacob Lowig independently discovered the element in 1825 and 1826.

How It Is Used Bromine is used in a lot of things such as dyes, camera film, even in anti-knockout gases. It is very painful if rubbed in eyes.

Interesting Facts An interesting fact about Bromine is that Bromine can cause painful scars and sores. When spilled on skin it can cause a horrible health hazard. It is also used in vegetable oil.
