Yorktown Students Explore the Colonial Army Encampment Two living history sites are located at Yorktown. In the Colonial Army Encampment, costumed interpreters demonstrate musket firing, 18 th century medical practices, meal preparation, and military drills. Interpreters at the 1790s farm site, illustrate seasonal and daily activities of the typical rural life during this period of American history.

Yorktown Costumed Interpreters at the Colonial Army Encampment Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution. In October 1781, British General Charles Lord Cornwallis surrendered to General George Washington. The Battle of Yorktown was a decisive victory for the Colonial Army that effectively ended the Revolutionary War.
