Project LocatePortland Team Pistol River Pocket Gopher Team – Elliott Heath – Nick Wales University of Portland School of Engineering Faculty Advisors Dr. Crenshaw Dr. Nuxoll Industry Representative Mr. Marcos Ortiz Harland Financial Systems

Introduction Our team is developing an Android application that will pinpoint landmarks and help the user to find the location via map This application will mostly help people new to Portland that are unfamiliar with downtown Portland University of Portland School of Engineering

Features Required Features – Identify Landmarks – Restaurants/ Popular locations – Info about locations – website, phone number, address – List of favorite landmarks/restaurants Optional Features – List of Saved locations – Add more types of Landmarks University of Portland School of Engineering

Accomplishments Conducted customer Interview Received 55 customer surveys via Facebook – Used results to decide features/landmarks Completed Hello World Android Program on emulator. Completed early button prototype First draft Functional Spec Reviewed University of Portland School of Engineering

October Plans Finish v.90 Functional Spec Finish v.95 Functional Spec Finish v1.0 Functional Spec Complete Button Prototype Research Google Maps Technology University of Portland School of Engineering

Concerns Nobody has experience with Android library documentation let alone the programming applications. We are not sure how long it will take to understand the GPS feature. – Solution: Build prototype to simulate the GPS feature University of Portland School of Engineering

Concerns Mixing the senior design schedule with Mr. Wales’ tennis schedule. – Solution: Don’t plan due dates after tournaments when Mr. Wales is out of town

Conclusions LocatePortland, an android based application will provide users with a map of landmarks/restaurants in downtown Portland Team Pistol River Pocket Gopher is still revising the functional design document University of Portland School of Engineering
