History of Busch Stadium By: Zach Geisler Principles of Sport Management

History Construction began in 1958, along with the Gateway Arch Eight years later on May 12, 1966 Busch Stadium was opened

In the 90’s the idea started to spread throughout the league about teams wanting new stadiums. June 2001 the idea was accepted for the new stadium, with construction starting a few years later On opening day in April 2006, the new Busch Stadium II was opened to the public

Success at Busch Stadium Dating back to Sportsman Park, their has been 19 World Series appearances. Out of the 19 appearances, they have won 11 titles. 5 of those have been at Busch I and II In the inaugural season, Busch made history by having the St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series for the first time in the first season at their stadium.

It also hosted the 2009 All Star Game a couple of seasons later. Busch also has a way of selling tickets, by averaging about 43,000 tickets sold per game.

Busch Stadium II Construction for the second one started in 2005, in the lot next to the old Busch. On April 10, 2006 ushered a new era in at St. Louis Costing $365 million dollars, the St. Louis Cardinal organization financed every single dollar through the organization becoming the first team in the MLB history to do that It houses 46,000 seats with prices ranging from $5 to $200 dollars per seat

The stadium has also hosted other events including a college football game, and 2 international soccer games.

Ball Park Village A two or three part phase, with the first phase costing $100 million dollars. Is going to be a mimicking image to what Wrigley field has. The first phase is set to open by the start of the 2014 season, and is to bring an atmosphere to St. Louis that has never been there before

Ballpark Village is suppose to host different restaurants, bars, hotels, office space and the permanent space for the Cardinal Hall of Fame. Cardinal Nation restaurant is going to be the most noticeable by hosting new seats that peer into the stadium to watch the game and have restaurant quality food at your disposal

Question What stadium has a similar layout to Busch Stadium? Answer: Wrigley Field
