3 Motivation  Isn’t it nice to get into a nice warm car during a freezing winter?  Have you ever been locked out of your car?

4 Motivation  Isn’t it frustrating?  Don’t you hate to call others for help?

5 Motivation  To have a nice warm car waiting for me during a freezing winter without me going outside to start it.  To avoid being locked out of my car.  To prevent someone from breaking into my car.

6 Problem Statement How do I get my car to start remotely? Possible Solution: Remote Starter Possible Problems: a) Limited distance b) Can not have a blocked view

7 Problem Statement How do I get the doors to lock/unlock without a key? Solution 1: Remote keyless entry. Possible problem: What if you lock your remote keyless entry in the car. Solution 2: Onstar Possible problems: Car does not have Onstar feature and monthly fee ($199 per year upto 799 per year) is required.

8 Proposed Solution CL100 is a Telematics system that allows you to control certain functions of your vehicle from a touch tone phone. You can Lock and Unlock your doors, pop your trunk or remotely start your car from your phone.

9 How it Works  You Call the Toll-Free Number  You will Hear: "Welcome to Your Vehicle Command System" "Press 1 for Customer Command Access"  "Enter your Subscriber Number followed by the # Sign"  "Enter Your 4 Pin-Number"  A Selection of Voice Prompts will Guide you to which feature of your system you desire to Activate.

10 Results The actions below can all be done by using your phone from anywhere in the world.  Car starts without person being in car  Door locks/unlocks without key  Activate/deactivate car alarm

12 Conclusion  This is a better solution than using a remote starter because of it’s limited distance and the view between the car and the remote can not be blocked.  This is a better solution than Onstar service because you have to pay a monthly fee and not every car has this feature.

13 Future work  Incorporate with another cell phone in the system to call me when my car is running or when someone breaks into my car.  Apply this system to my friend’s cars that I can make some money and they can save some money as well.
