PRACTICAL CASES 6)Monetary sanction 7)Yellow flags 8)Quotas NJR Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2011

6.MONETARY SANCTION Two months after the season has finished the FIS Office receives a letter from a competitor complaining of a monetary sanction imposed by a Jury after a Slalom race. Apparently he continued racing after committing a fault in the second run. He left the ski area immediately after he finished because he had booked a flight.  What exactly should the Jury do to avoid this kind of problems in the future? The only note we found in the FIS was on the TD report saying that racer NN was sanctioned with CHF 999. Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2011

7.YELLOW FLAGS Downhill FIS event with a low number of competitors at start (54). Run time between 1.18 and Start interval 60 sec. During the first training a few crashes very close to the finish area caused many delays and 3 times you had to use the yellow flag to stop racers. During the Teams Captain´s meeting remarks regarding this problem were made by the coaches.  What is you answer?  Is there any way to avoid this sort of complaint? Alpine Technical Delegates Update 2011

7.YELLOW FLAGS Rules to be consider: 622.1Regular Intervals In Downhill, Giant Slalom and Super-G, competitors will normally start at regular intervals of 60 seconds; for Slalom see art The Jury may fix different intervals The start interval is determined by the Jury If a competitor is stopped by a yellow flag, he has the right to a re-run, provided that the Jury considers this possible from an organisational point of view. The Jury should ensure that the competitor’s re-run takes place before the last competitor on the start list of the race, or training run in the case of Downhill (see 705.2, 705.3).
