Analyze the economic crisis that created political doubt in the French Monarchy 3. Describe the relationship between the Three Estates in France prior to the Revolution Discussion: What are some strategies that leaders who are threatened with the possibility of revolution use to try to stop it?

Who had the Power & Control in France? Louis XVI & Marie-Antoinette Crowned king after Louis XV’s death in 1774 Although intelligent and good-natured, Louis & Marie were seen as weak, indecisive, shy and awkward Married at ages 14 & 15

The Three Estates of France 1st Estate – Catholic Clergy - 1 % of population / Pays no taxes 2nd Estate – Nobles - 2 % of pop. / Pays little taxes 3rd Estate – Commoners Working Middle Class 97 % of population Heavily taxed by King All estates are represented in the government by forming a Parliament-like committee known as the Estates General
