I Was Recently Asked A Question The Other Day That Was A First For Me And That Was, What Category Of Government Is The Cordelia Fire Protection District? We Are Categorized As An Independent Special District That Is Also Considered Local Government, Just Like Any City Fire Department. The Fire Protection District Law Of 1987, Is What Guides The Fire District In What It Can And Can Not Due.

Other Questions Have Included, How Come Our Budget Is So Small. The Video You Are About To Watch Will Explain Our Budget Issues We Currently Endear. Remember Proposition Was Implemented In The 1970’s. The Cordelia Fire Protection District Did Pass A Successful 2/3 Majority Special Tax By About 6 Votes, Otherwise We Would Have Returned To A 100% Volunteer Agency

You may wonder why it is so important to take care of your issued PPE, fire district facilities, fire district apparatus, and yourself.

Just after the new millennium started the Cordelia Fire District lost funding that was coming from property taxes outside the fire district, from the old Benicia Fire District that was divided between the Benicia Fire Dept. and the CFD. It was the states accounting error. Add the additional issue of we are one of the only agencies in the county that pay ERAF, it has something to do with the schools, but everyone else gets money back. Hence just one of the reasons the fire chief and my- self do not want to see any equipment or PPE being tampered with or used for purposes other than what it is designed for.
