Four Steps to Writing a Goal

Types of Goals Using the 4 steps in goal setting, set a personal goal for yourself for one of the following personal goals. Physical Mental Emotional Spiritual

Write the Goal Write one personal goal and write why this goal is important to you. In addition, write what the goal looks likes when it is finished.

Outline the Specific Steps to Achieve the Goal Outline all the steps to achieve the goal. Each step needs to be broken down into small manageable tasks that you are able to accomplish.

Chart the Obstacles for Achieving the Goal Chart the blocks and challenges you will face on attaining your goal and write how you will deal with each issue.

Time Frame Write an approximate deadline for achieving the goal. As well, chart the deadlines for the small goals to achieve your ultimate goal.

Types of Goals - examples Classroom Goals (ex. agenda at the beginning of class) School Goals (ex. Increase student achievement…sound familiar?) Community Goals (ex. feeding the homeless, making booties for premature babies, raising money to create a skate park, or foster a child in a developing country)
