Goal-Setting Health Miss Kilker

What is a goal? A goal is something you aim for that takes planning and work. Goal setting is an effective way to achieve something, build self-esteem, build self-confidence, and improve overall health.

Types of Goals Short-term goals: Long-term goals: A goal you can reach in a short period of time. Examples: finishing a project by Friday, cleaning your room before dinner, or deciding you will exercise at least 3 times this week. Long-term goals: A goal that you plan to reach over an extended period of time. Examples: improving your grades over this semester, making the basketball team next season, or getting into a good college.

Writing SMART Goals S – Specific M – Measurable A – Achievable R – Realistic T – Time frame

The Action Plan Set a specific, realistic goal, and write it down. List the steps you will take to reach your goal. Identify sources of help and support. Set a reasonable time frame for reaching your goal. Evaluate your progress by establishing checkpoints. Reward yourself for achieving the goal.

Action Plan Outline Complete the following 5 sentences I need to stop doing_________. I need to start doing_________. I need to continue doing__________. I need help from___________. Something that may get in my way is____________.

Goal-Setting Assignment Set 3 short-term goals to complete in one week. Create an action plan for 1 of your short term goals. Set 3 long-term goals to complete within the next year. Create an action plan for 1 of your long term goals.
