Evaluation Evaluation Criteria Ethics and the Environment Methods of Evaluation 13/05/11 Projects 4

1.Evaluation Evaluation is the final stage of a project. It is not just an opinion but detailed documentation describing how the project met the design criteria. Evaluation Criteria – Are the design criteria written in such a way that the solution may be evaluated thoroughly. Functionality and Quality – Functionality is the ability of the solution to work as expected. Quality is the accuracy of information and data. This especially important for banking or medical services. Integrity of information means that the data is current (not out of date) and from a reliable source. The internet can be a source of information that lacks integrity. Ethics and Environment – Ethics means protecting personal information and dealing in an honest ethical manner. Solutions must be made in a way that does not degrade the environment. Issues include re-cycling, noise and energy wastage.

First evaluate the solution yourself. Then ask opinions of your peers and finally the end client (classroom teacher in IST) who will evaluate your solution. Documentation includes specific questions rather than receiving vague comments 2.Methods of Evaluation

Class Task 1.Identify and describe an environmental issue of concern regarding computers. 2.What steps are being taken to address these concerns? 3.Why should Australia deal with its own environmental problems or export these problems overseas? 4.Research an Australian company that solves computer environment problems. What is the name of the company. What services do they provide? What are company contact details (address, URL address, phone number)?
