intro Swedes love to talk about the weather. The seasons vary a lot from north to south and can be quite different depending on where you live.

The seasons When people think of Sweden they think of winter but the climate can be milder than you would expect. In the south, winters are short and mild and in the summer temperatures can reach 25 degrees. In the middle of the country winters are colder and there is more snow.

Norrland Norrland is the northern region of Sweden. Not many people live there. Winters are long and cold with lots of snow. Summers are short with temperatures averaging 15 degrees.

Riksgransen Riksgransen is the worlds most northerly ski resort. It is 200km inside the artic circle. From 6 th December to 6 th January it has no daylight at all – 32 days of pure darkness. In the summer from 25 th may to 19 th July there is no night-32 days of pure daylight.

Animals in Sweden include the brown bear, wolf, wolverine and lynx but it is rare to see them. You are more likely to see a moose – there are 350,000 in Sweden and 6000 road accidents each year involving moose.
