Objectives of the MEAs training workshop and workshop agenda Tirana, Albania, June 2010

MEA training workshop  MEA workshop in context of One UN Programme in Albania (One UN Coherence Fund)  Overall objective is to ensure that the MEFWA has a greater capacity to raise the profile of the environment in national policies and to improve mainstreaming of environment and MEAs into the national development strategy  This objective contributes towards Outcome 5.1 of the Environment Pillar of the One UN Programme in Albania, which is the compliance by the Government of Albania with the environmental requirements in the EU accession process and with the MEAs

Objectives of the workshop  To introduce and discuss opportunities for strengthening Albania’s participation in international environmental cooperation through selected Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs)  To strengthen and enhance the capacity to implement MEAs at the national level, including compliance and enforcement  To identify opportunities to integrate MEA requirements into national plans and strategies, including UNDAF  To identify gaps and needs for further capacity building, training and other activities
