Your Business Manners Matters, an article by Loretta Di vita

Does business manners really matters - Yes, it matters in all business environments – from the mailroom to the boardroom. * Most people are aware of their general behavior but some don’t care about the whole issue of manners as it relate to the business domain.

According to Di Vita, good business manners are like good table manners. She talks about the embarrassing moments like – A VP drinking from her finger bowl An account executive who mistakenly chew a warm napkin thinking it as a spring roll

How table manners and business manners are similar? If you don’t have good table manners it could lead to an embarrassing moment like those examples. And if you don’t’ have good business manners you will not be able to cooperate with the business world. Every move you make is important when you are dealing with your boss, clients or anybody that matters. It is like the proverb says- “Action speaks louder than words”

How and why this could effect corporate world? -People like to do business with people they like or people who like them. That’s why many companies spend big training dollars on businesses etiquette and intercultural communication to help their employees learn about the worldly ways of their global associates.

What matters most? - It is important to pay attention to our behaviors. Because we have to impress our bosses, clients, and other stakeholders. It effects our reputation and success.

Conclusion…. * Successful business people agree that people skills (business manners) are what carry a business transaction from simple idea to a done deal. So what does table manners has to do with business manners? Theoretically, small gestures at the table are indicate of behavior in the business arena.
