Pink Dolphins around the world. Elizabeth Wong

So, what are they? They feed on fish and squids. There are only 120 of them left. The fishing boats’ nets and rubbish are trapping the pink dolphins, causing them to drown and die. They are endangered mammals. They are a breed of dolphins, and live in the water. There are only 120 of them left. The fishing boats’ nets and rubbish are trapping the pink dolphins, causing them to drown and die.

Where do they live? Hong Kong, near the new airport and check lap kok. The Amazon river, along the river. Scientists still cannot explain the reason of the dolphins being pink. Since most dolphins are grey.

Proof that they are in danger? The graph here shows the number of stranding in Hong Kong waters. As seen, the number has increased massively through-out the years.

Advanced information. The fishermen’s net traps the dolphins’ mouth, and after struggling for twenty minutes or so, they die. There is a famous dolphin called Ringo in Hong Kong. It was trapped in a fishing net, but luckily, the fisherman realized it and jumped in the water to set it free! It made a deep cut in it’s neck. The main problems for the dolphins are, pollution, habitat loss, over fishing and boat traffic. The pollution traps the dolphins and suffocates it. The habitat loss forces them to move away. Over fishing decreases the amount of food they eat, and the propeller in the boat cuts them.

Does it matter to us? It is our job to keep them alive and safe. We can do that by reduce, refuse, recycle and re-use the rubbish that we make. Put yourselves in the dolphins shoes before you do something. Give the next generation a chance to see these nature’s beauties.

Surviving in the ocean Sharks are sometimes a threat for the dolphins. Many people throw rubbish in the sea. The ship’s propeller can cut the dolphins.

HELP SAVE THE DOLPHINS Throw rubbish in the bin Participate in activities for saving them
