QUALITY OF A GOOD NURSE MANAGER

DEFINITION OF QUALITY  Quality is essentially about learning what you are doing well and doing it better. It also means finding out what you may need to change to make sure you meet the needs of your service users. Quality is about :  knowing what you want to do and how you want to do it  learning from what you do  using what you learn to develop your organization and its services  seeking to achieve continuous improvement  satisfying your stakeholders - those different people and groups with an interest in your organization.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD NURSE MANAGER  Respect staff as professionals,  Set standards and clear professional example,  Be organized, yet creative and flexible,  Be an effective decision maker, as well as a conflict and crisis manager,  Motivate and empower staff,  Have a good sense of humor,  Be honest, fair, consistent and reasonable,

 Be reliable resource and staff advocate,  Be available and accessible to staff,  Be a great communicator,  Financially knowledgeable,  Focus on quality & patient safety,  Good leadership,  Strong physician relationships & collaboration,

WHY THIS QUALITIES ARE IMPORTANT?  To promote healthy working relationships.  To make the workplace pleasant.  To ensure an understanding and qualified workplace.  Ensure all the organizations to understand the message sent.  Improve commitment and job satisfaction.  To make things more tolerable.

 To build morale, give people a sense of the importance of what they're working on.  To lead by example and provoke strength and dedication in the team.  To organize and to make sure everything gets done in a safe way, and that the best possible quality care is provided.  A sense of emotional support helps a great deal, which in turn trickles down when the nurse is dealing with patients.

Reflect your experience working in the ward/clinic  During our placement at Ripas, there is a conflict between staff nurse and patient’s relative about the intubation. Then the ward manager ask the relative to gather at her room and the ward manager explain about the intubation with great communication skill with reasonable reason which make the relative confident and trust about the procedure.
