W ASHINGTON The Evergreen State

T HE F ORESTS Washington is most commonly known as the Evergreen state. Why is this so? Washington is called the Evergreen State because of how many forests it has.

M OUNTAIN R ANGES In Washington we have many mountain ranges such as the Cascades and the Olympics. The Cascades are located on the western side of Washington. The Olympics are located near the Pacific Ocean on the Olympic Peninsula.

W ASHINGTON ’ S B ORDERS The Northern border is Canada. The Southern border is the Columbia River and Oregon. The Eastern border is Idaho. To the West is the Pacific Ocean.

M AJOR C ITIES The major cities are on the West coast. They are Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane and the state capital, Olympia.

M AJOR I NDUSTRIES Western Washington is home to Boeing Aircraft, Microsoft and Seattle is a major seaport. Eastern Washington is agricultural and is best known for apples.
