Comenius Project Lahr second year meeting

Eco-Products & Eco-certification Recycling in the Tourism And Travel Sector Comenius Project

ECO-PRODUCTS AND ECO-CERTIFICATION Eco-products -Eco-Food -Biofuels -Transportation -Biodegradable materials An organic product is one that has less impact on the environment

ECO-PRODUCTS AND ECO-CERTIFICATION Eco-Food -It protects health - It protects agriculture - It protects the environment -It Contributes to build a more sensible society

Eco-products and eco-certification Biofuels Are fuels derived from biomass The most prominent are: -Bioethanol -Biodiesel

ECO-PRODUCTS AND ECO-CERTIFICATION Bioethanol Bioethanol is produced from sugar cane and corn crops Mixed with fossil fuels to reduce pollution, since its energy value is too high and its production cost is high.

Eco-products and eco-certification Biodiesel It is produced from vegetable oils such as sunflower.

Eco-products and eco-certification Transportation One way to reduce pollution in the environment is to use a public bus or train, as are vehicles with less consumption per person. In Spain the use of hydrogen vehicles, electric and hybrid, is highly increasing.

Eco-products and eco-certification Biodegradable materials Are those capable of being degraded environmentally. They represent a new generation of materials capable of significantly reducing the environmental impact in terms of energy consumption and waste after use.

ECO-PRODUCTS AND ECO-CERTIFICATION Eco-certification They have as main goals: to promote products with less environmental impact and provide consumers with better information on the environmental impact of more consumer products. Key Features: -They must be accurate, verifiable and not misleading. -Should not create trade barriers -Should be based on science -Should take into consideration the complete life cycle of the product or service -Should stimulate the improvement of the product or service

ECO-PRODUCTS AND ECO-CERTIFICATION Types of eco-label ISO Eco-labels - Type I: Create by an independent body thtat intervenes in the market. -Type II: They are diclosure statements on the environment by the manufacturer -Type III: Statements environmental giving very detailed ibnformation based on quantitative indicators.

ECO-PRODUCTS AND ECO-CERTIFICATION Eco-label most significant: The European Eco-label “The Flower” The “Euro-leaf” The Difference of guarantee of environmental quality (DGEQ) AENOR The Blue Flag

RECYCLING IN THE TOURISM AND TRAVEL SECTOR Sustainable Tourism Characteristics of Sustainable Tourism -Ecological sustainability. -Social sustainability. -Cultural sustainability. -Economic sustainability.

RECYCLING IN THE TOURISM AND TRAVEL SECTOR ECO-HOTELS However, some establishments cate themselves "eco-hotels" do not meet the main requirements to be met. An ecological hotel must respect local tradition and culture, rural landscape and biodiversity of their environment."
