Easter in Germany

What is Easter? Easter is a holiday which celebrates the rebirth of Jesus. Although many people use this as an excuse to eat chocolate and candy the moral behind it is religious. There are many names and ways people celebrate this holiday around the world.

Easter in Germany In Germany the celebration of Easter starts on Good Friday by covering the cross. Easter is called Eastern. On this day people add fish into their dishes this is a well known tradition in Germany. It is very popular to eat sweet things such as coloured eggs, chocolate, cakes and candy as well as chocolate bunnies. It is also popular to have an Easter egg hunt which most families enjoy doing together. Children also play a game called Chocolate Kiss.

What Is It Like Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in Germany shops, banks, and offices are closed. Trains and busses are limited on these days so it can get hard to travel around. Schools are usually on holiday for around two weeks. As you can see some of these traits are like some in England and other countries around the world.
