Miss Bowen’s Bulletin March 25 th Updates I had gotten away from the weekly updates during the second trimester, but with so much going on at school this week, I thought it might be helpful to send one home with the students. Tomorrow is the last day to send in an order form for the magazine drive. If you would like to participate in this fundraiser, please return the envelope to school with your child by tomorrow, March 26 th. We are still collecting box tops. If you are able to collect them and send them in with your child, it would contribute to a great fundraiser that we are currently participating in. We are also collecting candy for the Easter egg hunt. If you would like to contribute to this event, please send the candy that you are donating to school with your child. Lastly, our classroom is in need of cleaning supplies. While we won’t need much, with only a couple of months left in the school year, anything that you are able to contribute would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Academics Contd. Social Studies-We started our unit on government in preparation for our field trip to Harrisburg. This week, we will continue learning about the three branches of government and their responsibilities. Science- We are continuing our unit on energy by studying the energy of sound. Students used tuning forks with different forms of matter to observe sound waves in the science lab. Academics Religion- We are finishing up with our unit on the sacraments. We will finish the unit prior to Easter break, and will review for the assessment after we return. ELA- Last week, we started reading “Crash” as a class. Students have been answering comprehension questions and analyzing the literary elements from the first 12 chapters. Math- We started our unit on patterns, and have created rules and continued patterns for both numerical and non- numerical sequences. We are moving on to order of operations later this week, which we will continue to practice up until Easter break. Reminder The students’ almsgiving tubs should be returned to school on Monday, March 30 th. Students were asked to make sacrifices and do extra good deeds to earn the money to put in their tubs. This week, students have been reminded to be mindful of their Lenten promises and sacrifices. Students have received permission slips for the trip to Our Lady of Confidence and the trip to Harrisburg. Please sign and return them to school at your earliest convenience. Thank you! Star Students We have had a few star students since our last class bulletin, and we would like to recognize them for their great work. Christian has been very committed to his classwork, and has made great strides in math. He is always looking for a challenging problem that he can try to solve. Peter has been very welcoming to our new student, Dennis. Peter has gone above and beyond to help Dennis to feel at home in our classroom. Franny has been especially focused in class. He has been very attentive, and has been actively participating in each lesson.
