1 Is Marriage for Life? Jesus Said Yes! Matthew 19:1-6

2 Is Marriage for Life? We must recognize the God given New Testament Pattern for Marriage. What did Paul Teach? Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage is to be held in honor by all,” Husbands & Wives - Colossians 3:18-19 Older Women in the Church are charged to teach the younger women. Titus 2:3-5 Fathers are to take a spiritual lead in the home! - Eph. 6:4

3 Shall We Save or Destroy Marriage? Christians are the defenders of the Faith! Jude 3 Christians are the light of the world! Matthew 5:14 Christians are the defenders of Marriage, not the destroyers of what God has joined together! Hebrews 13:4; Matthew 19:6 We must not send mix messages to our young people, nor to the world!

4 Shall We Save or Destroy Marriage? Is Marriage only a matter of property, personal possessions, or legally filed documents? One Man & one Woman make vows to God and to each other, but only God joins the two. “What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder!” Matthew 19:6 Have we become “Lawyers” of the Faith, trying to establish our “exceptions to the rule” to be Jesus’ law? Luke 11:52-54**

5 Shall we save or destroy Marriage? Is Bible truth now to be decided by debater’s arguments in accordance with human emotions, human reasoning, or hypothetical scenarios? Not Jesus, nor Peter ever taught different causes for putting away! Luke 18:28-29; 1 Peter 3:7; 5:1 How can we be at peace with God when we are at odds with each other over the simplicity that is found in Christ Jesus our Lord? Galatians 5:13-15 (We must be United in Truth!) How can we be the defenders of marriage teaching multiple exceptions to the rule?

6 Some Questions Work to Undermine the Authority of the Scriptures! We are Not Saying We should not “contend earnestly for the Faith! Jude 3, but: Stop playing devil’s advocate! Stop using Hypotheticals to define the truth of God’s word! 2 Timothy 2:14-15 Stop trying to establish new exceptions to the rule by some precedence set in a court of human law, or through debater’s arguments! Paul said, 1 Corinthians 2:4, “And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom,”

7 Marriage is for Life! Romans 7:1-3, No waiting game is being taught here, because Marriage belongs to God, and one cannot break their marriage vows and be right in the sight of God to make another vow to another person! 1 Corinthians 7:10-13, is not an exception to the rule of One Man, for One Woman for life! It can not mean that because of what Jesus said in Matthew 19:6-8, 9 Marriage does not belong to man, but to God!

8 We Must Preach the Rule and Not the Exception! The Simplicity of the Rule is “One Man for One Woman for Life!” This is the Biblical Concept of Marriage that God gave man a spiritual relationship to be held in Honor by all! From my youth up, I was taught that Marriage was to be held in honor, and divorce was never an option. Why should that change today? It is sinful to teach the exception as though it were the rule? God Hates Divorce! Malachi 2:16
