Welcome to High School!! THREE SIMPLE STEPS: KNOW High School Graduation Requirements College Entrance Requirements PLAN College acceptance is a PLAN, not a DREAM ENGAGE Be involved! Be an active member of your school

At the end of the year you should have: High School Credits Each class per semester = 5 credits Each class per year = 10 credits If there are 6 periods in a day, how many credits should your student earn every year? Answer: 60 credits At the end of the year you should have: 9th grade 55 credits 10th grade 110 credits 11th grade 165 credits 12th grade 220 credits to graduate 

B. English- 4 years A-G A. History- 2 years A-G University of California/ California State University A-G requirements …To prepare every student to meet the A-G College Entrance requirement A. History- 2 years A-G World History: 1 year for high school graduation U.S. History: 1 year for high school graduation B. English- 4 years A-G English 1-4: 4 years for high school graduation

Advanced Placement Courses College-level courses taught in high school Highest level courses offered in WUHSD (higher than honors) Receive +1 grade point into GPA calculations Students can take AP Exams and earn college credit with passing scores WHS offers 18 different AP courses 40% of WHS students are in at least 1 AP/Honors course

9th Grade Course Selection 4 Mandatory courses: English Math Science Physical Education (PE for 9th Grade is State Law) 2 Elective courses Honors English may pair with AP Human Geography or Ancient Civilizations-Honors Placement exam is administered at middle schools in April/May
