Superior Pleasures #6

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

1.What’s the offer?  ‘Rest for souls’ = Spiritual rest  This affects everything else 2.Who makes the offer?  ‘Come to me’. This is Jesus speaking 3.To whom does Jesus make the offer?  ‘All you who are weary and burdened’ ▪ with guilt and shame and fear of God. ▪ But also those weary with life!  But can that mean me? Yes – ‘ALL you who are burdened …!’

4.What does Jesus ask? ▪ that you take his yoke on you. ▪ that you learn from him. 5.Why should we accept? ▪ Because he is gentle & humble ‘Our present suffering not worth comparing with glory that will be revealed …’ Romans 8:18 ‘Our light and momentary troubles are achieving an eternal glory that far outweighs them all’ - 2 Corinthians 4:17
