We Screen “We run a criminal background check” –I highly recommend you do this if it is legal in your state… –I would run a credit check too if it were legal in Hawaii –99.9% of the time, they will tell you if they have a record right then and there – saves time –Check Facebook too?

Diagnostic Test – Compression? Administer series of questions that relate to your business –Rate yourself –Mark their response to questions –What is their attitude like when answering? –Fill in the blank of guitar parts

Writing Test Ask them to respond to a fictitious and gauge: –Writing skills –Problem solving –Performance under time pressure –Computer literacy How you write = how you think

Floor Test How and what do you play? –Can you tune a guitar easily and quickly? –Can you sing? –Came prepared with a pick? –Know how to coil a cable? –Great Gauge for decisiveness… Playing is the least important thing I look for in a hire…TAKE NOTES!!!!

Real Interview Ask a wide range of questions Make sure you ask the non-negotiables –Schedule? –Access to a car? –Able to lift heavy things etc? Give them a chance to ask you questions… –What do they ask? Selfish questions? Big Picture questions… –Do they give you the chance to talk?

Talk to Managers…. I like to pass them off to my managers after my interview and get a few more people to get a feel for them. I like for the managers to also want to make the hire. If they say no, I rarely push the issue.
