What is the desert?  The desert is extremely hot and dry  Only rains 10 inches a year  large land with little or no vegetation  deserts are known for supporting plants and animals   About one fifth of the earths surface.

There are two types of Deserts: Hot Deserts The hot deserts are the Arabian, Australian, Chihuahuan, Kalahari, Mojave, Monte, Sahara, Sonoran, and Thar. The cold deserts are the Antarctica, Atacama, Gobi, Great Basin, Aranian, Namib, Takla Makan, and Turkestan. ************************ AND ********************* Cold Deserts

Where are Deserts? Many deserts are found in bands along 30 degrees latitude north and 30 degrees latitude south (between the red lines on the map).
