Literary Genre and Author Letter in Biblical Historical Narrative Author: Jeremiah, one of the greatest Hebrew prophet… - son of Hilkiah, a priestly family of Anathoth, a Benjamite town 2 ½ miles NE of Jerusalem - known as the weeping prophet - poor, isolated and persecuted by his audience - called to prophecy in 626 BC during the 13th year of King Josiah of Judah (The New International Dictionary of the Bible) - contemporaries: Zephaniah, Habakkuk, Daniel
