Pharaohs

Who were Pharaohs? Pharaohs were Kings or Queens of Egypt back in ancient times for around 5000 years. They had control of the whole country. Citizens of Egypt believed that they were the sons and daughters of Gods.

Ramesses the great Ramesses was pharaoh of Egypt for 67 years. He started the Syrian campaigns or the battles against Syria. He had ten children. He is one of the four external statues.

Cleopatra Cleopatra was the last Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Cleopatra reigned for 21 years. There is a movie named after her. This is a picture of what she looked like.

Hatshepsut Hatshepsut is one of few female Pharaohs. She reigned for 15 years. She claimed that Ra told her to become a Pharaoh.

How did they die? Ramesses died from severe dental problems and was plagued with athritis at 90 years of age. Cleopatra killed herself by letting an Egyptian cobra kill her and she suffered a painful death. Hatshepsut died of unknown natural causes.
