Why have obesity rates in America gone up?

Money Families who have a lower income are more likely to be obese. This is because healthy, higher quality foods can cost much more than low quality food. Low-income families will go to places like Mc Donald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King more often because it is cheaper.

Medical Issues Some medications, such as hormones, diabetes medications, antidepressants, and blood pressure medicines can cause weight gain. Medications and treatments for diseases such as cancer can also cause you to gain unwanted weight. Stress, can also contribute to overeating. It can make you feel hungry when you really aren't.

Marriage and Family History Obese people tend to marry other obese people, and their kids will have a much higher chance of being obese. People who have a history of obesity in their family will also have a much higher chance of being obese.

Sleep Habits People who sleep less tend to overeat in order to make up for the energy loss. More and more people are staying up late because of tempting shows, movies, games etc… Lack of sleep can cause other problems, not just obesity. Inability to focus at work or school is another result of little sleep.

Obesity, its not Just in Humans This is a real picture
