General Rules of Jurisprudence Lesson 38 قاعدة التقية Part Two The rule of TAQIYAH (prevention) The evidence: The narrations of the Infallibles (AS)

The abundance of narrations TAWATOR: There are plenty (140) narrations from the Infallibles (AS) emphasizing on practicing the TAQIYAH, so it does not need any further verification in the SANAD, yes there will be discussion in the TEXT or the MATN, for each HADEETH later, in this lesson we will just mention the narrations from each Infallible (AS) from the vol. 16 chapter 28 from WASAEL ASHIA: These narrations are narrated by Imam Hassan Alaskari (AS) asael-16/11.html#69

The Prophet (S): وقال رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) : مثل مؤمن لا تقية له كمثل جسد لا رأس له The Messenger of Allah (S) Said: “The resemblance of a believer who does not observe TAQIYAH (Protection) is as a body without head”, that means a person without head is either without strategy or like a blind person who might hurt him self. In another narration it is a shield or like a body armor

Imam Ali (AS): وقال أمير المؤمنين ( عليه السلام ) : التقية من أفضل أعمال المؤمن ، يصون بها نفسه وإخوانه عن الفاجرين The chief of the believer (Imam Ali -AS-) said: TAQIYAH is among the best deeds of a believer, with it he protects his life and his brothers from (the harm of) the worst ones. Imam Ali (AS) mentions the TAQIYAH could be for saying the life of ones self or others.

Imam Hassan (AS): وقال الحسن بن علي ( عليه السلام ) : إن التقية يصلح الله بها أمة ، لصاحبها مثل ثواب أعمالهم ، فإن تركها أهلك أُمّة ، تاركها شريك من أهلكهم Imam Hasan son of Imam Ali (AS) said: Verily the TAQIYAH of a person becomes cause of Allah to maintain peace in nation, then for the one who performs it gets the reward of them, and if he forsakes it (TAQIYAH) and causes destruction of nation, then the one who forsakes it shares the ones who destroyed it. It can be observed that Imam Ali (AS) performed the TAQIYAH for the sake pf protracting the nation from the destruction of the roman armies.

Imam Hussain (AS): وقال الحسين بن علي ( عليه السلام ) : لولا التقية ما عرف ولينا من عدونا Imam Hussain son of Ali (AS): If it was not for the TAQIYAH, our follower (WALI) would not have been distinguished from our enemy.

Imam Zainul Abdeen (AS) وقال علي بن الحسين ( عليه السلام ) : يغفر الله للمؤمن كل ذنب ، ويطهره منه في الدنيا والآخرة ما خلا ذنبين : ترك التقية ، وتضييع حقوق الاخوان Imam Zainul Abdeen (AS) said: Allah forgives every sin of a believer, and cleans him from it in this world and the here after, except for two things: Leaving the TAQIYAH (when required) and wasting (ignoring) the rights of the brothers.

Imam Mohammad ALBAQIR (AS) وقال محمد بن علي ( عليه السلام ) : أشرف أخلاق الائمة والفاضلين من شيعتنا استعمال التقية ، وأخذ النفس بحقوق الاخوان And Imam Mohammad son of Ali (AS) said: The most honorable etiquettes of the Imams (AS) and the virtuous ones from our SHIAS, is practicing the TAQIYAH, taking ones self towards observing the rights of the brothers.

Imam Jafer ALSADIQ (AS) وقال جعفر بن محمد ( عليه السلام ) : استعمال التقية بصيانة الاخوان ، فإن كان هو يحمي الخائف فهو من أشرف خصال الكرم Imam Jafer son of Mohammad (AS) said: Practicing the TAQIYAH to protect the brothers, so if he protects those who have fear, then it is from the honored qualities of kindness

Imam Mosa ALKAZHIM (AS) وقال موسى بن جعفر ( عليه السلام ) لرجل : لو جعل اليك التمني في الدنيا ما كنت تتمنى ؟ قال : كنت أتمنى أن أرزق التقية في ديني ، وقضاء حقوق إخواني فقال : أحسنت اعطوه ألفي درهم Imam Mosa son of Jafer (AS) asked a man: That if you had a wish in this world then what would you have wished? He said: I would have wished the TAQIYAH (protection) in my religion and fulfilling the needs of my brothers, so he (AS) said: very well, (he told his servant to) give him 2000 dirhams.

Imam Ali ALREDHA (AS): وقال رجل للرضا ( عليه السلام ) : سل لي ربك التقية الحسنة ، والمعرفة بحقوق الاخوان ، والعمل بما أعرف من ذلك ، فقال الرضا ( عليه السلام ) : قد أعطاك الله ذلك لقد سألت أفضل شعار الصالحين ودثارهم One man asked Imam Redha (AS): Ask your lord to bless me with a appropriate TAQIYAH, and to know the rights of my brothers, and to practice what I know from those (rights), So The (Imam) REDHA (AS) said: Verily Allah has given you that, for you have asked the best emblem of the virtuous and their covers ( مدثر ).

Imam Mohammad ALJAWAAD (AS) وقيل لمحمد بن علي ( عليه السلام ) : إن فلانا اخذ بتهمة فضربوه مائة سوط ، فقال محمد بن علي ( عليه السلام ) : انه ضيع حق أخ مؤمن ، وترك التقية It was told to Mohammad Son of Ali (AS) that a so called (FOLAAN) person was taken convicted with a charge, and was flogged with one hundred lashes, so he (AS) said: Verily he ignored the right of his believer brother, and left the TAQIYAH …...

Imam Ali ALHADI ALNAQI (AS) وقيل لعلي بن محمد ( عليه السلام ) : من اكمل الناس ؟ قال : أعلمهم بالتقية وأقضاهم لحقوق إخوانه ـ إلى ان قال : ـ في قوله تعالى : ( والهكم إله واحد لا إله إلا هو الرحمن الرحيم ) (1) قال : الرحيم بعباده المؤمنين من شيعة آل محمد ، وسع لهم في التقية ، يجاهرون باظهار موالاة اولياء الله ، ومعاداة اعدائه إذا قدروا ، ويسرون بها إذا عجزوا Some one asked Imam Ali son of Mohammad (AS): Who is the most complete (ideal) person? He (AS) said the one who is the most knowledgeable in the TAQIYAH, and the most fulfilling in the deeds of his brothers… Until he (AS) recited this verse: [Shakir 2:163] And your Allah is one Allah! there is no god but He; He is the Beneficent, the Merciful. He (AS) said: the merciful to his servants from the SHIA (supporters) of the household of prophet Mohammad (S), he made for them flexibility by the use of the TAQIYAH, they proclaim by expressing the allegiance to guardians from Allah, and disassociation from His enemies, if they are able to do so, and if not, then to conceal it..

Imam Hassan Al ASKARI (AS) قال رسول الله ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) : ولو شاء لحرم عليكم التقية ، وامركم بالصبر على ما ينالكم من أعدائكم عند اظهاركم الحق ، ألا فأعظم فرائض الله عليكم بعد فرض موالاتنا ومعاداة أعدائكم استعمال التقية على انفسكم وأموالكم (1) ومعارفكم وقضاء حقوق اخوانكم ، وان الله يغفر كل ذنب بعد ذلك ولا يستقصي ، وأما هذان فقل من ينجو منهما إلا بعد مس عذاب شديد ، إلا أن يكون لهم مظالم على النواصب والكفار فيكون عقاب هذين على اولئك الكفار والنواصب قصاصا بمالكم عليه من الحقوق ، وما لهم إليكم من الظلم ، فاتقوا الله ولا تتعرضوا لمقت الله بترك التقية ، والتقصير ، في حقوق إخوانكم المؤمنين.
