Passionate Pirate Worksheet Assignment 2

Content Passion My content passion is plant science! After graduating with a MS in Horticulture, I decided that I still have a passion for teaching others also. I put two of my passions together and that has got me to where I am in my professional career today. I am part of a three teacher agriculture department which really gives me the opportunity to focus on teaching in areas I love and am more qualified in. We have two greenhouses at our school and I am hoping to get my Agriscience I students more involved in them this year. I also am training the Nursery Landscape CDE team this year. Within your subject matter, what are you passionate about teaching? In other words, of all the topics and standards you teach as part of your curriculum, which are the ones you most enjoy?

Professional Passion I am passionate about seeing the “light come on” in students while I am teaching. The shy students remind me of how I was as a student. I had a ag teacher/FFA advisor who made me feel at home and showed me that I can do what ever I wanted. He changed my life and brought me “out of my shell.” I want to be that teacher for my students. I strive to make sure that I am building them all up and keeping them engaged and involved. Within your profession, but not specific to your subject matter, what are you passionate about? What is it about being an educator that drives you? What ignites a fire inside of you?

Personal Passion My personal passions include the following: 1. God- Living my life so I can be a light to the world. 2. Family- I try to spend as much time with my family as possible. I have 3 nieces and 6 nephews that I try to be an example to and spoil. 3. Animal Rescue- I love to rescue dogs and show them all that they matter and are loved. I have two rescue dogs of my own (Guinness and Bass), and I foster dogs for a local rescue as needed. I wish I could keep them all. 4. Travel- I love traveling, seeing new places, and experiencing new cultures. I have a world and United States map in my home, and I put pins everywhere that I have had the opportunity to explore. Completely outside of your profession, what are you passionate about?
