Project Definition The goal of this project is to research carotid rheology and design, simulate, and model a steerable catheter that would allow surgeons to obtain easier access through the carotid artery.
Objectives Conduct a literature review pertaining to blood flow parameters Derive and manipulate mathematical equations that model carotid blood flow Design various types of catheter tips Simulate all designs Model the most optimal design
Work Completed Reviewed articles concerning blood flow through the carotid artery Discovered relevant blood flow parameters and mathematical models of the carotid
Current Status Researching current catheter designs Searching for simulation software
Future Work Meet with project advisor concerning mathematical modelization Initiate design of various catheter tips Simulate designs
