XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia5 „fieldtrip project“ 5 day METO fieldtrip with forest students to Germany in April 2008 and April 2009:

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia6 The idea Creating a (cheap) permanent fieldtrip offer for foresters and students with 2 or 3 fieldtrips every year for groups with 15 persons, each fieldtrip 4-5 days, main theme: silviculture and climate change in forests (storm damages and windmills in the forests) cooperation between (personal and organisation) and (financial support) and (as an official supporter with international contacts )

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia7 State of the art / first results Positive signs in 2008 from state forest and from the foundation personal changes within the foundation and reducing of the supported programmes, because of the worldwide finance crisis in 2009 Unfortunately there will definitely no financial support! If the project can run without that, is open at the moment.

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia8 Contacts to IFSA Existing contacts to IFSA for years, but no close and concrete cooperation May 2007: UEF participation in IFSA Congress (Europe) in Nancy August 2008: UEF participation in 36th International Forest Students` Symposium (IFSS) in Sofia Fruitful discussion about IFSA membership of UEF youth oganizations

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia9 PAWS project EU-funded project, stimulating forester´s participation in nature interpretation UEF was represented in the advisory group end of the project in March 2007 All results can be downloaded in Internet and used for free (concept and tour planning tool for guides in different languages) ->

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia10 European Network of Waldpädagogik The project is dealing with nature interpretation, too. UEF supported the project at the beginning by naming contact persons as members of the network, who are engaged in nature-interpretation The project devoloped further on expert level

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia11 EFORWOOD project four-year integrated project, funded under the EU “Global change and ecosystems“ research activity of the Sixth Framework Programme The aim of the project is to provide methodologies and tools that will, for the first time, integrate Sustainability Impact Assessment of the whole European Forestry-Wood Chain (FWC), by quantifying performance of FWC, using indicators for all three pillars of sustainability; environmental, economic and societal. September 2006: UEF participation in the first stakeholder meeting in Kerkrade (Netherlands) Meanwhile the project is devoloping increasingly on expert level.

XVIIth UEF Congress Jedlnia12 Thank you very much for your attention!
