Ms. McLain’s Class 2 nd grade!!!

Welcome to 2nd grade!!! My name is Ms. McLain, and I am so excited about this journey we are about to embark on together. This is my very first year teaching, although I have been a part of the CES family for several years. Upon completing my internship at CES, I graduated from AUM with my collaborative elementary education B.S in I began substitute teaching at CES and ARIS in the school year. I was born in Montgomery, and raised in Millbrook. I graduated from SEHS in 2005 GO MUSTANGS!!! I still live in Millbrook now with my 3 boys Bailey, Talan, and Brock. I enjoy TEACHING, reading, photography, watching movies, and spending time with my boys. I feel very blessed to be with the CES family, and I know we are going to have a wonderful year together learning and growing. Congrats! You are now the proud parents of a second grader here at Coosada Elementary School! Amazing things will happen this year as your child grows. There are a lot of changes that take place in 2 nd grade. My goal is to provide a fun and inviting environment where I can prepare your child for the demands of 3 rd grade.

Our School’s Vision Statement Coosada Elementary strives to build a strong foundation upon which students become lifelong learners.

First week of Drop Off Teachers will be at school at 7A.M. the week of the th. However, after the 14 th students will need to be dropped off at 7:20 AM. Please understand there will not be any teachers on site to watch your child before 7:20.

Transportation Procedures. Parents, you will need to call your child’s bus driver about pick up times. The bus drivers contact information is located in the center of each group. Please take note of this information. -Please complete the transportation sheet before you leave.

Attendance Prompt and regular attendance at school provides students with the skills needed for future success and good character. Cars unload 7:20 Tardy bell rings at 7:35 Busses load at 2:30 Car riders will be released at 2:30 A written note must be signed and returned to school within 3 days for an absence to be excused. More than 20 excused or unexcused absences may result in retention.

Breakfast & Lunch Please make sure you fill out a lunch application ( Each child will be assigned a 3-5 digit lunch number. For the children that had money left over in their account from previous years will roll over to this year. Please try to send money on Mondays and pay weekly or monthly. Snack Please make sure your child has snack or snack money every day. Snack money can be sent in daily. Please send cash only and the exact amount. Snack Juice

Behavior Ms. McLain LOVES outstanding behavior! Inside your child’s daily binder, there will be a behavior chart. I have a clip chart system so every day your child will receive a color on their chart. There is also a reference to what each color means. Please initial this daily and return to school. If your child reaches the very top of the behavior chart, he or she will place a star on their clothespin. Once the student gets 5 stars his or her clothespin goes on the wall of fame and they will receive a good behavior token. CES also gives out GOTCHAS, every staff member has a blue pad with GOTCHAS. If a student is seen practicing good behavior they will be rewarded with a gotcha. Students with 5 or more GOTCHAS are allowed to attend the monthly GOTCHA party! If your child is caught misbehaving, they will receive an MBI and clip down.

Additional Classes Physical Education We will have PE everyday. Please make sure your child has appropriate shoes. Computer Lab We will have computer lab every week. Please make sure your child has headphones. Music Education We will have music class every other week. Located in Purple Pod with Mrs. Galanopolas. Group Counseling We will have group counseling every other week with Mrs. Bush in Blue Pod. Media Center We will have library every other week.
