Presentation transcript:

 Name: David Pelzer  Age: 12  Talents, Skills, Important Traits: David’s life changes, gets a better home, and he had a bad life.  Three Descriptive Adjectives: emotional, scared, and nice.  “I run to school, steal food, return to “The House” and am force to throw up in the toilet bowl to prove that I didn’t commit the crime of stealing any food” (Pelzer 3).

 Name: Ms. Gold  Age: Unknown  Talents, Skills, Important Traits: She helps David become a better person, and gets him away from mother.  Three Descriptive Adjectives: Nice, sweet, and caring.  “ Ms. Gold held on to my hand, caressing my palm, assuring me that she was there to help me” (Pelzer 46).

 Setting (Time, Place, Environment, Etc.): Mother’s house and Lillian's house.  Main Conflict: David is looking for better home and for someone to love him and treat him good.

 Definition of Theme: Subject of fears, doubts; not self-confident or assured  “Boy get this straight! I don’t care what they say, I’ll get you back” (Pelzer 53).  “No! I cried, she’ll take me away!” (Pelzer 73).

 This scene is exciting and important. In this scene David and his mother went to court. The final decision is made where David was going to belong to the court.  I selected this scene to describe because its very important. It’s the point in his life where he finally escapes his mother and his life changes.

 “Eight o’ clock came and went, as did more than a dozen cars that cruised by. As every car drove up the street” (Pelzer 145).  This scene is important because it shows no matter what happens he still cares about his father.

 This story reminds me of real world situations  They are connected because there are children in the world who get beaten, abused, and some may end up confused moving through out their life in foster homes.

 Someone should read this book because its suspenseful and it’s a sad story.  This is a story that will keep you reading from the first page till the end.  This is a story of a boy who was terribly abused by his mother and finally escapes. Yet he searches for a home he can call his own.
