FITNESS By Joanna Papandreou and Elektra Paschou

WHAT IS FITNESS ? Fitness is not about being thin, having a small waist, or having bulging muscles. It is a combination of qualities that enable us to be at our full potential in performing vigorous physical activities. Physical Fitness involves the performance of the heart, lungs, and the muscles of the body.

ROCKPORT TEST The Rockport 1.0 Mile Walk Test predicts aerobic fitness for individuals of all ages. This test incorporates the time to finish the walk, exercise heart rate, body mass, age, and gender into an equation to predict aerobic fitness

GENERAL MEASURMENTS THAT DEFINE YOUR PHYSICAL FITNESS Very Poor < 35.0 Poor Fair Good Excellent Superior > 55.9

MOTOR AND SKILL FITNESS Motor fitness is a more inclusive term than physical fitness Fitness skills are those particular skills that target physical fitness

COOPER TEST The Cooper test is a test of physical fitness. In the original form, the point of the test is to run as far as possible within 12 minutes. The test is meant to measure the condition of the person taking it and therefore it is supposed to be run at a steady pace instead of sprints and fast running. The outcome is based on the distance the test person ran, their age and gender.
