Osteomyelitis Breann Lauginiger

Symptoms and signs Severe pain in or around infected bone Fever and chills Nausea and fatigue Skin is sore, red and irritated. Ambulatory complications

Prevalence 2 in every 10,000 are diagnosed with Osteomyelitis Underlying Osteomyelitis complications are present in as many as 65% of patients being treated for body aches

Causes Osteomyelitis is caused by an infection through a pathogen, that is called Staphylococci. The infection can also be caused by severe puncture wounds going inside you’re body with infected substances Direct cause can happen if you have a severe broken bone or you’ve recently had surgery to replace joints and repair fractures.

Treatment Treatments include the use of antibiotics and surgery to remove portions of a bone that are usually infected or dead. Hospitalization is usually necessary.

Facts about Osteomyelitis Osteomyelitis of the vertebrae makes itself known through severe back pain especially at night. A delay in diagnosis and treatment can cause permanent ambulatory defects. Osteomyelitis doesn’t respond to Antibiotics properly like it would with normal medications.
