 On December 4, 1872 between Azores and Portugal the Dei Gratia saw the Mary Celeste abandoned.

 Benjamin Briggs, a 37 year old, was the last person to own the Mary Celeste.

 The Mary Celeste set sail on November 7, 1872 from New York.

 Nobody knows exactly what happened, but they do have theories.

 The crew believed that the ship was sinking and they left in panic.

 Pirates kidnapped the crew and their captain.

 Waterspouts formed and caused the crew to abandon the ship.

 Some people think that wine barrels caused fuses and the people left in panic thinking that there were going to be flames.

 We think that the wine barrels caused fuses and they thought the ship was going to be caught on fire.
